May 21 > May 24
Good evening everyone,
This is Bonnie Rempel with your Sunday memo for the week of May 21 - 24.
Summer School has been confirmed. We will be running two/3-week sessions – English, math and science. Classes will run from 9:00 – 2:30 and students will be asked to bring a lunch. Attendance will matter, as teachers will need to cover the curriculum content prior to awarding credits. Students are only permitted to register for courses that they have attempted and did not obtain the credit. If you believe that this could be an option for your child, please contact Christine Randell in student services @ 204-677-6228 and she will add you to the list.
RBC Training Ground is returning to Thompson on Sunday, May 26th at the TRCC. This program is free to everyone age 14-25. RBC Training Ground travels around Canada, identifying potential Olympic athletes, based on a series of physical fitness tests and measurements. One of R.D. Parker's students, Taylor Duffy, attended the event in 2019, the last time it was in Thompson, and is now a funded RBC athlete, training to be a Canadian Olympian in the sport of cycling! You must register online to attend. Please read his story in the link provided in the email portion of this message. We are so proud of him.
The R.D. Parker Parent Prom Committee will be running a 50/50 raffle from Tuesday, May 21st to Monday, June 3rd. Tickets will be available for pick up in Room 123 at R.D. Parker starting on Tuesday, May 21st, and throughout the week, during the lunch hour and at 3:30pm. If you have any questions or need to make alternate arrangements for ticket pick up, please email Ms. Roeckenwagner at croeckenwagner@mysterynet.mb.ca.
All Grade 12 students and families are encouraged to participate in selling the 50/50 raffle tickets, as this is our final fundraiser for Prom 2024. Your support is appreciated!
I believe we can officially say that the countdown is on. We have 19 school days remaining prior to exams beginning on Monday, June 17, 2024. Students are running out of time to buckle down, work hard and obtain those credits. We have been sending letters, making phone calls and visiting homes to ensure that our students are attending classes.
I hope you are enjoying your long weekend. Thank you for listening, enjoy tomorrow and have a beautiful week.
Take care of each other and always choose kindness. Chat soon.
