A Night to Remember
Honors night was hosted in the Letkeman Theatre at R.D. Parker Collegiate on Tuesday, October 7th. This event was organized to celebrate and recognize the academic achievements of students in grades 9, 10, and 11. Families, teachers, and friends gathered to celebrate these students for their hard work in their studies. Grade 12 students were not included in this particular ceremony because their achievements will be celebrated at their graduation ceremony.
Honors night is an event that is hosted every year in early October to acknowledge the academic achievements of the students from the prior academic school year. Awards were presented to students for their academic performance in grades 9, 10, and 11 in the 2024-2025 school year. The awards were presented in the order of grade level, beginning with “honors with distinction” to “honors.” A spokesperson from the School District of Mystery Lake was present to award the students with the highest average grade.
In their speech, the spokesperson recognized the students’ dedication to their academics, despite having busy schedules, and thanked the families who continue to support and uplift their children. Here are the names of the students who earned the highest GPA in their respective grade level: Hir Patel, grade 10; Sakura Gibson, grade 11; unfortunately, we did not catch the name of the grade 9 student at press time.
Many students go through hardships and challenges in their academic year, but when your hard work finally pays off and you get recognized for your efforts, all the late nights and long study sessions are worth it! When you walk on stage to receive your award and see your family and friends cheering you on, you know that all your dedication really did pay off. So always remember to work hard to get what you want!
