January 22 > January 26

Sunday, January 21, 2024

Good evening everyone,

This is Bonnie Rempel with your Sunday memo for the week of January 22 - 26, 2024.

We are four short days away from exams starting on January 26. Students should be having conversations with teachers this week to ensure that everything is in order prior to writing final exams. Parents can log into their parent connect to check on marks or students can show parents/guardians their marks by logging into their student connect profiles. If you have missed the mark in some of your classes, please reach out to your counsellor to ensure that adjustments are made to your schedule for second semester.

Ms. Jenkins is hosting an EF Tour: Washington, D.C. to New York in May 2025. This trip is a 6-day adventure that includes touring two of the nation’s most influential cities. From the White House and the U.S. Capitol to Times Square and the Statue of Liberty, students will discover how these two great cities have helped shape America's past, present, and future. Canada’s history is connected with the United States' history; therefore, this is a great opportunity for students to become aware of our historical ties. We will visit the Smithsonian Museums, various monuments, the Statue of Liberty, Ground Zero of 9/11, and various famous spots in New York and take in a famous Broadway show. If you are interested in more information or signing up, please come see Ms. Jenkins in room 238. There is a $200 discount for early enrollment before Feb 28th, 2024.

Graduation portraits will be held at RD Parker Collegiate between Monday January 29th and Thursday, February 1st and may now be booked online. Please see my email for additional information. Please visit https://schedule.prestigeportr... to book your appointment. Portraits will be taken in the upstairs computer lab, Room 212. Please read the attached Graduation Portrait Information letter from Prestige Portraits/Lifetouch for important portrait planning details, the session fee cost, etc. If you have any questions or concerns, please email Mrs. Horvath at shorvath@mysterynet.mb.ca.

All exams start at 8:45am unless your teacher has made other arrangements.

A Student Prom Committee Meeting will be held on Monday, January 22nd at 12:15 pm in Room 223. All potential graduates are invited to attend the meeting and participate in the prom planning activities.

Our cafeteria is opened on Monday and Tuesday of this week as our culinary arts students will be preparing for exams.

  • Monday - Brunch Plate (scramble eggs, pancakes, bacon, sausage, and hash browns)
  • Tuesday - Mini Pizza (Pepperoni or Cheese) with a toss salad

For those families interested in purchasing punch cards for children, we now have this option. $10 punch cards are available for purchase in the main office.

Thank you for reading. I will end my Sunday memo with a powerful quote I heard about courage.

Courage doesn’t always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, ‘I will try again tomorrow’.

Have a beautiful week and be kind.
