January 20 > January 24
The cafeteria is closed this week as students are preparing for exams.
RD Parker exam week starts on Friday, January 24th. A block classes have their exam on Friday, B block on Monday, C block on Tuesday, D block on Wednesday, and E block on Thursday. There is no school for students on January 31, but students are welcome to come to the school for schedule changes.
We have some issues with people stopping on Thompson Drive to let their kids out. Remember Thompson Drive is not a drop off zone and this creates dangerous situations. Please pull into the loop or one of the parking lots across the street when dropping off students.
We are looking for any students who create and sell their own products to participate in a youth market right here at R.D. Parker. If you are a crafter, quilter, 3D-printer, shirt maker, or any other kind of merchandise creator, please see Mr. Paradis in the main office.
Grad portraits are happening Tuesday, January 28th to Thursday, January 30th. We have had few potential grads sign up, so head to https://schedule.prestigeportraits.ca to schedule your session.
- The attached Graduation Portrait Information Letter from Lifetouch Portraits has important details, please read it.
- There is a portrait session fee of $35. It may be paid online when scheduling a portrait or paid by cash or cheque (made payable to Lifetouch Canada) when attending a portrait session. The photographers will not take a student's portrait without payment.
- Graduation portraits will be in the second floor computer lab, room 212 (Cameras A and B) and Room 242 (Camera C).
If you have any questions or concerns, please see Mrs. Horvath in Room 223 or send an email to shorvath@mysterynet.mb.ca.
Wahkotowin is collecting gently used or new warm clothing to send to Baker Lake, Nunavut as part of the Northern Hands Initiative. Donations can be dropped off to Mrs. Alcock in room 226 or Mr. Alcock in room 228 by January 28th.
Bell Let's Talk is happening next Wednesday, January 22. This year Bell Let's Talk is focusing on Youth Mental Health. Mental Health and our School Based Substance Use worker have planned a few events for our school.
-Starting Monday to Wednesday, there will be a daily trivia question. All winning answers will be put in a draw for a couple of prizes drawn at the end of the day. Listen up for the announcements!
-On Wednesday there will be a Sock'Em Dodgeball event in the RDPC gym at lunchtime and it’s Staff vs Students. Come on out for a battle with socks! The winners will get bragging rights, and random prizes will be given. We will end the event with pizza.
