Second semester starts February 3rd, which is tomorrow. Students who miss the first 4 classes without a valid reason will be removed from classes as there are waiting lists. It is important to call the school and let us know if you will be away those days to keep your schedule. The last day to make schedule changes is February 12th.
We are trying to determine the student led conference time that works best for our families.
Included is a link to a survey with two times. The first is 9:00 – 5:00 with teacher lunch from 1:00-2:00 and a second option running from 11:00-7:00 with teacher lunch from 3:00-4:00. Congratulations to our girls and boys team on winning their respective Zone 11 Curling Championships this past Thursday in Snow Lake! The girls delivered shot after shot, winning both of their games to secure the banner. The boys team was forced to play from behind following a loss in their first game, and what a show they put on. Down 4 in the 8th and final end, they scored 5 to win their second match. In the 1st of 2 double elimination finals, again down 4 in the 8th, they scored 4 to tie, and then won in extras to keep the dream alive. In the 2nd final, the boys finally found their rhythm and dominated with a 10-2 victory. Both teams will travel to Beausejour in two weeks to compete in the MHSAA Provincial Curling Championships. Congratulations again, and good luck to both teams!
Public Health will be at RD Parker all day on February 12th to do immunizations. They will be set up in the library.
Sometimes it’s difficult to know when to send your child to school if they are not feeling well. Attached is a Too Sick for School pamphlet from Northern Health regarding when to keep your child home and when to send them to school.
The students and staff of Wahkotowin (formerly Youth Aboriginal Council) would like to express their gratitude for the help we received with the Northern Hands Initiative. On Thursday, we managed to ship out a total of 145lbs. of winter gear for our friends at Jonah Amitnaaq Secondary School in Baker Lake, Nunavut. We would like to thank our community for all of their donations. We would like to also thank our partner, Calm Air for donating freight services for this cause, Rachelle and the Canadian Tire Corporation, Cort and Giant Tiger and Borderland Powersports for their donations to such a worthy cause. Stay tuned for our next northern community that we would like to assist.
