Spirit Week
During the week of November 18-22, R.D. Parker students took part in our annual spirit week and showed their enthusiasm and school spirit with their creative outfits on throwback day, favorite jersey day, rhyme without a reason day, and our first ever cultural day! Mr. Arcega arranged our first cultural day and started a new R.D. Parker tradition. On cultural day, we had special guests who performed some amazing dances associated with their culture and lit up the Letkemann theatre. There was a hoop dance performance which left everyone amazed and two of our students were able to try out some hoop patterns and spread their wings!!
R.D. Parker’s gymnasium took a chaotic turn on Friday afternoon with the first gym riot in five years. It was organized by the spirit squad. An overzealous display of school spirit was shown as every grade dressed in their designated colors. Our young grade nines dressed in green, grade tens in orange, grade elevens in blue and grade twelves in red. All the grades competed in a number of friendly yet competitive games. There were games like tic tac toe, cup stacking, arm wrestling, musical chairs, and a lot of other ball games. The whole gym was filled with people screaming and cheering for their grades. After all the games, the grade elevens took the trophy with the most points.
This was the first of many events that will take place throughout the year to collect points for your grade level. These events are an opportunity to have some fun, make some memories and go all out in your last year of high school. The next spirit week will take space in December as the holiday season approaches and will be accompanied by a Christmas assembly. Keep up the school spirit Trojans!!!
