Ski Trip!
Alright, buckle up, because we're about to spill the beans on how our school pulled off the ultimate ski trip and guess what? It was practically free for our students! RD Parker Collegiate went on a ski trip on March 7. The students spent the whole school day at Mystery Mountain Winter Park. Our chaperones, the unsung heroes of our adventure, were there to keep us in check. Mr. Gallo, Mr. Parody, Ms. Katchmar, Mr. Shen helped ensure that our students followed all the safety protocols and were being safe. A special thanks goes to the staff at the ski hill who made sure that everybody had proper equipment and was being safe.
Our cold environment doesn’t leave us with a lot of fun activities but we try to make the best of it. School ski trips are not just about hitting the slopes; they are about creating lasting memories, fostering friendships, and embracing the spirit of adventure. The trip was a big success with no injuries because of our amazing chaperones who helped the new skiers learn how to ski and didn’t hesitate to challenge our skilled student skiers. It was a fun and FUNNY experience as some students took a little bit of tumble on the slopes.
Everybody had a fun experience and it was different for all the students. For some first-time skiers, it was slipping, sliding, and occasionally face-planting in the snow and laughing it off with their friends and for others it was show-offing their remarkable ski skills on the steep hills. The learning curve was steep, but so were our determination levels. We turned wipeouts into victories and, by the end of the trip, we were carving up the slopes like pros. We are really looking forward to the 2025 ski trip.
